About Auckland Oncology
Founded 25 years ago by our oncology specialists Dr Harvey and the now retired Dr Thompson, our first team was based at Mercy hospital before moving to 161 Gillies Ave.
The vision for our practice has always been to provide specialist cancer care in an environment that is welcoming and supportive for patients. Since 1999 our clinic has been known as ‘Oncology 161’, however after moving into our new clinic at 125 Remuera Road in December 2017, we have rebranded ourselves as Auckland Oncology.
Knowledge about cancer biology and treatments are continuously advancing through active research. Our medical specialists are committed to continuing their education so they can offer the most effective and innovative cancer care.
We have five medical specialists and six oncology nurses, working as a close-knit team we are focused on providing the very best information and the most up-to-date treatments available at a world class standard.
We believe it is a privilege to travel with our patients on their cancer ‘journey’. Our passion for oncology comes from being able to make a difference for our patients at a difficult time. This is what drives us in our work.
Many journeys with cancer can extend over considerable time, often with unexpected twists and turns along the way. Our dedicated team is committed to sharing this journey with our patients, offering help and support whenever necessary.
From our medical specialists, to our nurses and our administration staff, we like to create an environment where patients feel comfortable and confident during their treatment and care.
